Longsight Cricket Club Has Great History As There First Club Cricketer Played For England In The Ashes Tour Of Australia Of 1878 His Was Called Thomas Armitage It Also Has The Biggest Cricket Ground In The Lancashire County League Has Had A Very Proud Tradition Where It Has Playing Cricket Matches Since 1848 When Sadly In 2004 We Had To Stop The Cricket Because The Club Was In Debt And Losing Money The Club Since Then Has Changed Into A Bowling Snooker And Social Club And Has Still To Sell The Cricket Pitch Due To Difficulty Of A Buyer To Buy The Land.
